About George

I am George Stelzner and I have been managing a substance use disorder (SUD) since 1986. I have nearly four decades of peer-to-peer sober experience, graduated from the drug and alcohol counseling certificate program at UCLA, and performed my clinical internship hours at Cri-Help, one of the oldest and largest non profit residential treatment facilities in SoCal, where I continue to facilitate group therapy. I collaborate with clients, mostly executives and entrepreneurs who have experienced setbacks due to the misuse of intoxicants, to develop a discipline to sustain and maintain physical and emotional sobriety. When working with a client my goal is to merge a client's motivations and needs with evidence-based practices to achieve positive long term outcomes. Certifications/Training: physically sober since December, 1986; graduate (2025) UCLA alcohol and drug counseling certificate program; Ethical Practices; Motivational Interviewing; SBIRT; 12-Step facilitation; SMART Facilitation; Cognitivism; various behavior therapies; managing setbacks; wellness/self-care practices; basic first aid. No fee for initial consultation. Rates upon request.
